How does online learning work?
Baggage Reclaim School is a private site featuring a mix of learning content – written, audio, video, worksheets, workbooks, ebooks etc. For the flagship courses (Build Your Self-Esteem, Reclaiming You, and The Pattern Breaker), these involve an element of feedback from your instructor, Natalie. All you need to access the course material is a decent internet connection and an up-to-date browser like Firefox, Safari or Google Chrome.
Is there a set time when I need to sign in?
Nope. This is self-paced so show up whenever you like and read as much or as little as you like. This isn’t a live course because students are from all over the globe and of course have their own lives and schedules. The only time you may want to be online at a certain time is when I run Office Hours sessions, see The Hub for details. Office Hours sessions are only available to students who have a subscription, you'll be able to find out more in The Hub.
How do I access my course material?
You should have received login information along with the link for accessing your course page within 48 hours of purchase. You will then get a series of emails letting you know when new content is available. If you are on more than one course, you can access your other courses in The Hub on the navigation bar.
How do I interact with Natalie and fellow students?
The comments are open on most posts. There is a private Facebook group - again details are in The Hub.
Will I be ‘graded’?
Er, no. This is a learning environment but there’s no exams. This is about the journey not the destination.
Can you tell me more about what I can expect to find when I log in?
You should arrive at your course page or The Hub. During your course you can watch videos, read course materials, view slide shows, listen to audio, download workbooks, worksheets and ebooks.
How do I get technical help?
There are guidelines for reporting technical issues, see below – if you use these, issues are normally resolved in seconds and minutes.
Will there be more courses?
Yes! You can see all the courses via The Hub. New courses are added here plus we will let you know via email they're available.
How often are courses offered?
The courses are self study, this means you can start them when and as you're ready. However, some courses have class intakes and I only accept students during a certain period.
Do I need special software to do this course?
No. What you do need is an up to date internet browser like Safari, Google Chrome or Firefox and a decent internet connection, especially if you’re watching videos or dialing in to a live class or web meet. Course are compatible with PCs and Macs. Most material is downloadable so you will need a PDF reader (one comes with your computer) like Preview or Adobe Acrobat and if you want to be able to type into files then you will need Pages/Word.
How long do I have access for?
You have 12 months access unless it’s specified otherwise as part of your joining instructions. Need longer? No problem, get in touch if you wish to extend your course once access has expired.
It’s to be expected that sometimes there will be a quirk. We try to get issues resolved very quickly …as long as when the issue is reported, that there’s a fairly clear idea of what the issue is.
Please email email@example.com and provide the following information to minimise confusion. Please do not post tech queries in the comments or on the Facebook group. This can cause a significant delay and possible confusion to other students. Please note we're in the UK, so won't answer (probably!!) if it's the middle of the night.
If it’s about not being able to access a page on the site, please copy and paste the link of the page that you’re getting the error on.
If it’s about not being able to access a file, please copy and paste the link of the page that you’re getting the error on or the exact title of page. It’s very possible that there are some similarly named pages (for example a series with ‘part 2′ or whatever), but if you report that it’s The Quick Brown Fox page when it’s actually The Quick Brown Fox Part 5, we’ll be talking at cross purposes saying “Error? What error?”
If it’s to do with how something is displayed, let us know which browser and what version you’re using and whether you’re on a Mac or PC.
If you get an error on logging in, log out and log back in before reporting.
